Eugenia Primavesi by Gustav Klimt

I chose the 528pc Extra Difficult cut from those available for this title, which was the first jigsaw I tried in the Gallery range. About half the pieces are one shape – mirror images and nearly identical – with the surrounding pieces being more random. The pieces also spread out to occupy a large area. The most difficult area was the upper golden background.

Klimt’s 1913 portrait of Eugenia Primavesi is characterised by its bold use of colour and pattern, typical of Klimt's later style. Eugenia's gaze is direct, but her expression is enigmatic. She was the daughter of a wealthy industrialist, well known in the fashion world of Vienna and deeply involved with the Weiner Werkstatte.
