3 Grey/Purple Box Era

The most recent packaging redesign at Wentworth, c2021, replacing the Cream/Brown Box Era.
The two-piece box has a deep grey lid, plum base, with a cloth drawstring bag of dark plum-purple. The redesign was gradual, with older titles being sold through. The grey boxes are made in Britain from recycled cardboard, designed to hold the heavier 4mm MDF pieces introduced in 2022. Boxes are no longer shrink-wrapped.

(The board thickness was increased because during the Cream box era Wentworth piece thickness had been lowered gradually to 3mm, which compared poorly with the jigsaws from newer international competitors.)

The Covid19 pandemic disrupted Wentworth’s existing sales outlets and the balance between direct-to-consumer, heritage sector and contract sales. The balance has shifted towards larger image ranges, but fewer sizes (piece counts) for many of the images.

The 750pc size has gone and few 1500pc jigsaws are available. The minimindful range was introduced with 40pc titles with range extensions to 80pc and c140pc. Wentworth have expanded their Extra Difficult tessellation style jigsaw range (including introducing piece counts, up to 1000pc) and introduced Free-form, Vine-cuts and Picture-cuts as cutting style innovations. There are also more novelty ranges like crackers and Advent calendars, more boxed sets, and titles with larger-pieces, stand-up pieces, fancy edges and dropouts.

In May 2025 Wentworth moved its manufacturing and headquarters from Pinkney Park, near Malmesbury, to a larger factory in South Marston Industrial Estate, Swindon.
