Sujan Jig-Saw, The

This little known manufacturer of good quality card jigsaw puzzles is thought to be of British origins, but this is not stated on the box, so is slightly uncertain.

Most examples found so far seem to be of 450 piece and fully interlocking nature but, unusually a few pieces have been cut in two as shown in example 303. The print quality is good and the backing material is a thick and very dense hardboard-like material.

An item number of 302 on the example The Morning Ride, is not thought to be a production number and it seems unlikely that there were 300 other titles available previously. Details of three puzzles identified to date are given, maybe in a relatively short-lived manufacturing run?

A date of December 1948 written on one example and the types of vehicles portrayed indicate they were made shortly after the end of WW2, perhaps from 1945-1955.
