Great Harry, The (Example 1)

Quite superb plywood jigsaw puzzle, estimated to be of c1920s origin and featuring a very attractive combination of interlocking, semi-interlocking and entirely push-fit cutting styles.

This is the third example of this puzzle which I have personally witnessed, and the first to come with its original box to confirm the cutting identity. All three example are now included in this "Studio" album as they are all quite clearly cut to the same set of principles used throughout their output.

Were it not for my familiarity with this actual image from other puzzle examples, the task of assembly would have been very challenging indeed. As it was, it still took me about twelve hours!!

The painting is believed to be by the British artist Bernard Finnigan Gribble (1872-1962) and also features in a Holtzapffel puzzle carrying the alternative title of Embarkation of Henry VIII
