Hot Spice Gingerbread, Smoking Hot

150-piece, non-interlocking jigsaw puzzle of solid wood construction and of early 20th century manufacture. The artwork is plate number twelve of a series of thirteen oil paintings by the London born artist Francis Wheatley (1747-1801), marketed as the "Cries of London".

This example carries a store address of Benetfink & Co., Ltd., Cheapside, E.C., this store going on to be taken over by Gamage's in 1907, although it is understood that the latter continued to market Benetfink branded products into the 1920s.

The puzzle is housed in a sturdy red box with lift-off lid and a full list of the thirteen titles pasted to the box-base.
