I Know An Old Lady ...

Shay Carmichael’s produced this quirky, thoughtful jigsaw for the 2021 Virtual Pagey Elliott Puzzle Exchange (v PEPE). (PEPE is an exchange between jigsaw makers that takes place at each Puzzle Parley. The maker produces a jigsaw for each exchange member, plus one for the Strong Museum of Play.) I took part in Show & Tell and managed to order one of Shay's spares.

The print has a slight texture and the grumpy old woman is by Leslie Anne Murray. The puzzle measures 10x7in, and is cut from 1/4" okoume ply.
The features of the nursery rhyme incorporated into the cut:
- nested in the woman's dress: fly, spider and bird
- chasing each other across the arched top left to right: horse, cow, goat, dog and cat
- along the bottom, seven question marks - why did she swallow the fly, ...
- puzzle has a tombstone shape, 'she's dead of course'.

Shay’s shiny black box has a wraparound magnetic closure.
The jigsaw arrived with the notecard which the eponymous fly was stuck to. The tape has raised some of Shay's signature from the back of the fly figural.
