Bond, Eric

A true master of the art of wooden jigsaw puzzle cutting, Eric Bond was commissioned by the British Jigsaw Puzzle Library to produce a large number of puzzles, almost exclusively non-interlocking in style. His contribution to the library stock ran from shortly before the Second World War until the late 1970s, early 1980s, continuing to cut into his 80s and passing away in 1982. Library member comments, submitted over the years, make it clear that many of these were amongst the most challenging available in their collection. Examples of his library commissioned puzzles can be seen Here

In addition to those cut for the library, I managed to acquire three small and similarly styled puzzles, all housed in old golf ball boxes, cut by Eric Bond, probably for family or friends. These were all incredibly challenging, featuring tiny pieces, totally non-interlocking and with colour line-cutting employed at every opportunity. I suspect he made these more as a penance than a reward! Given the problems the first has given me it may be some time before the others appear on the Jigasaurus. Nonetheless, this album has been created in readiness for them.
